Hi everyone. This is a tragic irrasional decision taken by Mr Zalumes. But before we like always run away with roumors and incorrect facts like this comment from Southern Gauteng going around" To all SGauteng Clubs - Please take notice of the attached document banning all vertical jigging from Durban to Mozambique -Your Inter club rules must be changed and NO vertical jigging willBe allowed as SAodwana bay falls part of this notice.Regards Lynette". This is a inhouse rule made by iSimangaliso and SADSAA needs everyone's support to question this rule. I hope the rumour that a very Senior committee member of SADSAA is agreeing with this ban is just that...a rumour! No impact study has been done on the amount of by catch ..how does it differ from the by catch when targeting pelagics with bait? Who did the homework around the bycatch or was this ban trigerred by a irresponsible oppinion lifted by one of our own?? Maybe we should have educated our anglers on how to release any bycatch and where to target pelagics, this we did and it was a foramal request through my Province to bring it up at a SADSAA meeting and to get a plan into action...3-4 years ago!! I can accept a decision like this if it wasn't for the unbearable feeling that there is once again a Snake in the grass!! There is definately a hidden agenda. Let's support SADSAA as a united front to take this up with iSimangaliso, Ezemvelo and the appropriate goverment departments and come to a more sensible conclusion and decision. How practical is the policing of this ban?? Am i now banned to use my newly acquired Jigging outfit of R10K to target say Cuta with bait or lures?? We had a particpant trolling with a jigging outfit and hooking and landing a Black Marlin....photos to prove this. It happened during a TOP 10 Game Fish Invitational at Cape Vidal!! We have just been informed by at least 3 sponsors in the TOP 10 GFI 2010 that they are withdrawing their sponsorships of +/- R35K should we not be allowed to jig at Cape Vidal during the upcoming TOP 10 GFI 15-19 March 2010!! So the implications for us as a Club and host of a competion is already quite huge. Where will this end!! :o - Japie van Wyk
