Sir/Madam,

Sport and Recreational Angler’s Petition to Government regarding the extreme reductions to our West Coast Rock Lobster rights
 
What is a petition?
 
Every citizen of the country has the right to petition Parliament as provided in our Constitution. A petition is a way of bringing an inequality or an issue of public concern to the attention of Parliament. A Member of Parliament presents the petition for consideration to Parliament.  Once this petition is presented it will be referred to the relevant committee for consideration who is then required to report to its House and make recommendations about the content of the petition. In this way, Parliament is obliged that the voice of the people is heard at the highest levels.

We have approached a Member of Parliament who has agreed to present the petition on our behalf to Parliament. For a petition to be acceptable to Parliament it must be signed by the petitioners themselves.

How can you assist?
 
It would be greatly appreciated if you would read the content of the petition and obtain as many signatories as you possibly can. You are welcome to make copies of this petition and hand it to any citizen who is prepared to accumulate signatories on our behalf.

What next
 
After obtaining as many signatures as possible, please forward the petition form to the Secretary of the Western Province Deep Sea Angling Association, either by:

All forms should reach the office of Western Province Deep Sea Angling Association by 10 January 2011

We would like to present the petition to the Government during the week ending 14th January 2011.
